APPLICATION TIPS


*** For all the epoxy applications, dead times between layers can of course be utilized for other works, besides dead times can be minimized if different phases of the application take place in different parts of the project. Moreover, for bigger surfaces more square meters are possible per day in average because you will be able to work on bigger open surface with the same materials.

 

POLEPOX-PR 824


Application temperature:
10 to 35º C

Working temperature of applied material:
-30 to 50º C

Tools of application:
Double-rubber edge squeegee for smooth concrete surfaces or brush for concrete surfaces in general

Consumption (20-25º C):
250-300 gr/m² on power-troweled industrial floors, in two layers at least (usually three or more), until the surface is saturated with primer, becoming glossy and gelly.

Time between primer layers:
30-60 minutes

Covering of primer:
in 8-10 hours

 

POLEPOX FLOOR 817

Application temperature:
10 to 35º C (when the temperature is high-more than 27ºC or so-it is important to avoid application during the noon hours, when the high temperature is rising, in order to eliminate the possibility of blister creation on the floor)

Working temperature of applied material:
-5 to 50º C

Tools of application:
1. Spotty roller with 4 mm spots for 2.5-2.7 mm thickness in one layer -consumption (20-25º C): 4 kg/ m² (followed immediately by spiked roller over the surface to kill the air pockets and level out the surface)-or notched trowel with 4-5 mm notches in one layer
2. Spotty roller with 2.1 mm spots for 1.8-2.0 mm thickness in one layer -consumption (20-25º C): 3kg/ m² (followed immediately by spiked roller over the surface to kill the air pockets and level out the surface)-or notched trowel with 2-3 mm notches in one layer

Covering with quartz sand: immediately


 

POLEPOX QUARTZ 849

Granulometry ~ 0.5 mm
Consumption (20-25º C): 5.5 kg/ m² initially, 4 kg/ m² finally (after sweeping next day)
Covering after 12-15 hours

 

POLEPOX COAT 814

Application temperature: 10 to 35º C
Working temperature of applied material: -5 to 50º C
Tools of application: Single-rubber edge squeegee (and then press with mohair roller on top, for uniform dispersion/leveling out of the two-component, self-leveling epoxy floor coating POLEPOX COAT 814, in order not to cover the anti-slip effect of the grain of the sand)-consumption (20-25º C): 0.5 kg/ m² in one layer

For 400 m², 4 people will be needed for 4 days:

1st working day (8 hours): Grinding and cleaning, joint filling with the two-component epoxy putty for horizontal surfaces EPOFIX-H 207, limited repairing with EPOFIX-H 207 or the two-component epoxy putty, squeegee-applied EPOFIX S 214
2nd day: Grinding of joints-if necessary, sweeping of floor, priming of the whole surface
3rd day: Application of the three-component, self-leveling heavy-duty epoxy mortar POLEPOX FLOOR 817 and broadcasting of quartz sand
4th day: Sweeping of remaining quartz sand and application of POLEPOX COAT 814
The fourth worker will be needed mostly on the third and fourth day

*Again, extensive repairing will affect times accordingly
*In all cases, the substrate is considered to be a decent power-troweled one, or a smooth concrete surface (or a repaired one with epoxy or cement-based products, like EPOFIX-H 207 or the two-component, industrial, repairing, polymer-modified cementitious self-leveling compound POLYSMOOTH 2C 803).
